In 1985 Mexico City, Heinrich Treadway finds himself on the run from law enforcement and a menacing adversary named Bathurst. Joined by his companions Abel and Leona, he discusses the stolen Egg—a mysterious object with dire implications.

As their escape plan unfolds, Treadway is forced to warn Abel to 'look inside' in case he does not make it. Tension rises as they are cornered by Bathurst, leading to tragic consequences for Treadway's allies.

In a desperate bid for survival, Treadway leaps from a vehicle off a bridge. However, his escape is foiled when Bathurst catches up with them, resulting in the fatal demise of his companions.

Fast forward to 2020, we meet Evan McCauley, who battles schizophrenia due to a turbulent past filled with institutionalization. In desperate need of medication, he takes a risky route by forging a Katana for a local gangster.

After a chaotic interaction with the gangster, Evan finds himself arrested. There, he has an unsettling encounter with Bathurst, who eerily refers to him as Treadway, igniting memories of their shared past.

During a critical moment when Bathurst seeks to unlock Evan's memories, chaos ensues as a car crashes into the scene. Nora Brightman arrives just in time to whisk Evan away, kicking off a thrilling car chase.

Evan learns about the conflict between two groups known as the Believers and the Nihilists. The Believers, like Nora, believe their memories are a calling, while the Nihilists, led by Bathurst, see it as a curse.

Evan is believed to be Treadway reincarnated, crucial in locating the Egg, a device meant to eliminate all life on Earth. The Believers are racing against time to awaken his memories before Bathurst can extract vital information.

Bathurst's quest intensifies when he ruthlessly kills Bryan Porter, the Director of Operations for the Believers, in New York City. This murder not only weakens the Believers but also advances Bathurst's plans.

Evan, plagued by memories buried deep due to trauma, seeks help at the Artisan's lair. Undergoing sessions in the Artisan's machine, he starts to uncover disturbing insights about his previous life and the circumstances of Treadway's murder.

Realizing that Treadway's remains harbor the Egg, Bathurst initiates a fierce mission to recover the body. In an explosive clash at the Artisan's facility, Evan and Nora manage to escape but are left in grave danger as Bathurst closes in.

Evan teams up with Nora for a climactic confrontation against Bathurst. In a battle fraught with peril, Bathurst shoots Evan, but the steel plate in Evan's skull allows him to strike back and prevent the Egg's activation.

In a last-ditch effort, Bathurst drowns with the Egg in the ocean, sealing his fate. His sacrifice marks the end of a devastating cycle and provides a chance for the Believers to free trapped souls.

Years later, as fate intertwines again, Nora and Abel are reincarnated, destined to cross paths once more. Meanwhile, Evan's rebirth in Jakarta signifies a new chapter, as he receives a Katana that hints at his past life memories.
