In the late 1960s, scientist David Banner embarks on a groundbreaking quest to revolutionize genetics. His primary aim is to enhance the immune systems of soldiers, believing this will allow them to recover swiftly from wounds sustained in battle.

Facing denial of permissions for human trials, David makes the reckless decision to test his genetics research on himself. This personal experiment leads to unforeseen mutations in his DNA that would alter his life and that of his son, Bruce, forever.

In a moment of desperation, David triggers a catastrophic gamma explosion while trying to protect his son, Bruce. This explosion releases radioactive material that not only affects David but also leads to tragic consequences for his family.

In a chaotic turn of events fueled by fear and rage, David accidentally stabs his wife during a confrontation as he attempts to safeguard his son. This act of violence results in David's incarceration in a mental institution for 26 years.

Following his mother's death, young Bruce Banner is placed in foster care, growing up under the belief that both his parents are gone. His hometown becomes desolate and abandoned, serving as a stark reminder of his tumultuous beginnings.

Fast forward to 2003, Bruce Banner works as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. He is assigned Military supervision due to his work with Nanomeds, unaware that his estranged father has re-entered his life under the guise of a janitor.

David, having infiltrated Bruce's life, secretly surveils him as the tension between Bruce and his father escalates. David conducts his own experiments while warning Bruce to control his temper, hinting at the dangerous legacy he inherited.

After a lab mishap, Bruce is exposed to gamma radiation which, in combination with the Nanomeds, enhances his abilities. Awakening in a hospital, he discovers that he has not only survived but emerged much stronger than before.

The mounting stress in Bruce's life leads to his first transformation into the Hulk during a chaotic incident at the lab. The destruction he causes is a frightening revelation for him and draws the attention of military forces.

Angered by Bruce's actions, David unleashes mutated dogs to hunt down Betty, Bruce's love interest. This provocation catalyzes Bruce's next transformation, where he uses his newfound strength to confront and defeat these monstrous creatures.

Bruce is tranquilized and taken to a secret military facility under Major Talbot's supervision. Talbot aims to harness the Hulk's powers for military gain, further complicating Bruce's struggle to control his transformations.

After undergoing experiments, Bruce transforms into the Hulk again, escaping the military facility. This results in mass destruction, with Talbot meeting an untimely death amid the chaos while Bruce goes into the wilderness.

David confronts Bruce in an attempt to provoke the Hulk's appearance, revealing his own new abilities. The meeting escalates to an intense battle where both father and son unleash their monstrous qualities upon each other.

In a dramatic showdown by a lake, Bruce reveals the full extent of Hulk's powers, ultimately overcoming David, who transforms into a grotesque version of himself. General Ross detonates a gamma bomb, obliterating David's monstrous form and leaving Bruce to face the aftermath.

One year later, Bruce has adopted a quieter life as a doctor in a distant rainforest, yet the specter of the Hulk still looms. When soldiers threaten his new sanctuary, Bruce warns them of his monstrous alter ego, hinting that the Hulk is never far from the surface.
