Kathy Barrett is the proud owner of Kathy’s Kafé, located in the heart of Hope Springs, New York. However, this vibrant cafe owner faces significant challenges after the passing of her husband, who was a skilled handyman. With a broken heating system, a leaking roof, and a staircase with a missing step, she finds herself overwhelmed with the upkeep of her café. In her attempts to brighten her day, Kathy regularly visits her friends, Theo and Mel, who run a clothing store called “Reclaimed Rags.” During one of her visits, they gift her a striking red scarf, proclaiming it destined for her, and inspire her to seek joy again in life following her profound loss.

On her way home, Kathy stumbles upon an enchanting snowman sculpture competition. Captivated by one particularly muscular snowman, she places the red scarf around its neck and snaps a photograph, blissfully unaware of the magic about to unfold that evening. To her astonishment, the snowman springs to life later that night. In a hilarious turn of events, he panics and bolts from an elderly couple and their frenzied dogs, only to crash through the window of the clothing shop. In his escape, he grabs overalls and galoshes to wear, adopting a rather comical look.

The following morning brings a delightful surprise for Kathy, as she finds the snowman, now named Jack due to the name tag on the overalls, chatting animatedly with other snowmen. She invites him into her diner, offering him a warm meal, curious about his origins and memories. When asked what his first memory is, Jack responds, > “It’s of you placing the scarf on me.” This sparks a deep connection, and their adventures begin to intertwine.

As the story unfolds, the local sheriff investigates the rather unusual break-in at the clothing shop and is determined to find the perpetrator. Meanwhile, Jack’s freezing touch creates concerns for Kathy, leading her to seek medical advice. After a visit to the doctor confirms that Jack’s body temperature remains below freezing, Kathy decides to take him under her wing.

One evening, in a display of affection, Jack surprises Kathy by preparing homemade pizza, a skill he picked up by watching cooking shows. However, Kathy finds herself feeling a bit apprehensive about Jack’s open displays of love and his constant need for physical comfort. As Jack assists Kathy with various tasks around her home, including fixing her roof, he becomes an unexpected sensation within the community.

When Kathy’s neighbor comically drives into a snowbank, distracted by the appearance of the shirtless snowman, she enlists Jack for some repairs in her home, which leads to Jack being offered a role at the local school as maintenance staff. This prompts him to assist in decorating for a holiday dance, where he finds inspiration to invite Kathy as his date. Their outing to find the perfect suit becomes a meaningful adventure, and Jack even gifts Kathy a beautiful silver snowflake necklace.

At the school dance, however, an unexpected problem arises: Jack starts overheating! As they step outside for air, they almost share a kiss, only for Jack to express fear that he might inadvertently harm Kathy if he were to melt away. The twists of the story culminate on Christmas Eve when the community gathers at the diner. Just as Kathy delivers a heartfelt speech, Sheriff Nate makes the shocking decision to arrest Jack, much to the dismay of the townspeople.

The doctor clarifies to the community that Jack is indeed a snowman, leading the townsfolk to come together in the spirit of the season. Despite the sheriff demanding a hefty bail of $2,000 for Jack’s release, Kathy’s determination shines through as she and her diner customers come together to pool the money, yet they still fall short. The sheriff’s son steps up to offer the remaining amount, prompting a change of heart from Sheriff Nate.

After securing Jack’s release, Kathy is devastated to find him lifeless outside. In an emotional moment, she kisses him, takes the red scarf, and prepares to leave. To her disbelief, Jack suddenly revives, shivering and operating like a real human! They finally share an exhilarating kiss, marking the beginning of their new life together.

As they embark on their radiant journey, Kathy and Jack indulge in the joys of their relationship, exchanging thoughtful gifts and planning adventures. Jack surprises Kathy with a home repair book, and in return, she delights him with plane tickets to Hawaii. With dreams of their trip ahead, they step forward together, hand in hand, ready to face whatever magical surprises life has in store for them.
