Stanley Yelnats, a teenager plagued by family misfortune, is wrongly convicted and sentenced to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention camp. There, he and the other inmates are forced to dig large holes daily under a scorching sun. Initially believing the labor is pointless, Stanley soon discovers the camp holds a deeper, more mysterious purpose connected to his family’s history and a long-buried secret. Through perseverance and newfound friendships, he confronts the challenges and uncovers the truth behind the seemingly endless digging.
