Joy, a Filipino domestic helper working in Hong Kong despite holding a nursing degree, is determined to save enough money to secure a better life in Canada and bring her family over from the Philippines. While working illegally as a bar tout in Lan Kwai Fong, Joy catches the eye of Ethan, a Filipino bartender. She initially dismisses his advances, but during a police inspection where foreign workers are scrutinized, Joy quickly kisses Ethan to divert attention from herself.
