Held For Ransom

Millionaire Herbert Scott is kidnapped. The kidnappers demand a ransom and Larry Scott pays it, but the uncle is not released. The situation sets the stage for a dangerous search around the Scott lodge.

Kimble, the Scott's caretaker, intercepts the ransom payoff and secretly stuffs the cash into empty shotgun shells. The clever ploy hides the money in plain sight and foils the kidnapper's plan. This twist triggers the next chain of events.

The crooks, aligned with their neighbor Sam Hathaway, grow suspicious of Betty and have her watched. They fear she may uncover their money scheme. The tension builds as the net tightens around their operation.

Betty escapes out her window and goes to Sam Hathaway's place to search for clues. She overhears a conversation and learns that Sam has figured out where the money is hidden. The information raises the stakes for everyone involved.

Betty tails the crooks to the store where Kimble left the shell box. Unbeknownst to them, the box is later sent with groceries to Larry's place, placing the money further out of reach. The misdirection keeps the money moving through ordinary channels.

Betty overpowers two crooks and leaves them bound for the local constable. She heads back toward Larry, but Sam shoots through a window, sparking a wider pursuit. Don and Betty chase the criminals while Larry is left with the money.

Larry discovers a secret door slowly closing on him and hacks through it with an axe. In the cave below, Sam has an argument with the third crook and is killed as the two crooks fight for their share. Larry and Betty rush into the cave to resolve the situation.

Betty unties Herbert Scott, who has been tied to a post in the cave. Don returns and handles the safe passage of the uncle, taking him away for safety. The family is temporarily restored as the pursuers regroup.

Larry knocks out the remaining crook and recovers the money. The two crooks manage to escape the constable, tie Larry up, and set fire to the mill as they flee with the cash. Betty and the crooks escape in a car but are pursued by Morrison, who arrives to help.

The police chase the crooks off the road and rescue Betty and the cash. They race to save Larry as well, bringing the chaos to a close. In the end, Larry heads to Hawaii for his honeymoon with Betty by his side.
