Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

Twelve years after the first attack, the G-Graspers are created within the Japan Self-Defense Forces to combat Godzilla. They confront the monster at the Tokai Nuclear Power Plant, highlighting the escalating battle between humans and kaiju. This era cements the ongoing effort to contain Godzilla.

Thirty years after the initial crisis, clean plasma energy replaces nuclear power in Japan. Godzilla attacks the original plasma reactor, causing substantial damage and casting doubt on the new energy source. The attack leads to a ban on plasma energy.

During the aftermath, Godzilla is responsible for the deaths of most G-Graspers, sparing only their captain Kiriko Tsujimori. The losses galvanize continued efforts to remove the threat and tighten controls on dangerous energy sources. Rebel scientist Hajime Kudo becomes involved with the mission against Godzilla.

Five years later, the Dimension Tide fires miniature black holes and opens a wormhole, allowing Meganula to slip into the present. A dark egg sac is deposited on Earth and begins oozing, signaling a new wave of invasion. The threat arrives in the current era and ties the past to the present.

A boy named Jun Hayasaka finds the egg sac and moves to Tokyo with it. He remains unaware of the peril the egg contains. The discovery begins a chain of events that will bring Meganula into the city.

Jun tosses the oozing egg sac into a sewer, where it splits into numerous eggs that hatch into Meganulon. The Meganulon molt into Meganula, signaling a rapid evolution of the threat. The urban sewers become a cradle for the creature brood.

Godzilla reappears in search of energy and clashes with the G-Graspers, who are aided by renegade scientist Hajime Kudo. The monster demonstrates relentless pursuit of energy sources even as human factions try to contain him. The city readies for another devastating encounter.

The Meganula swarm is drawn to Godzilla's energy near Kiganjima and launches an attack. The Dimension Tide is fired again during the confrontation, but Godzilla survives the strike. The skirmish marks a turning point as the insects begin to threaten the kaiju's energy reserves.

A Meganula injects Godzilla's energy into a queen nymph, triggering her molt into Megaguirus. Megaguirus emerges as a winged queen and begins to terrorize Tokyo, forcing Godzilla into a new kind of duel. The metropolis braces for a clash of titans.

Megaguirus devastates Shibuya with wing-generated shock waves and heads toward Odaiba for a final clash with Godzilla. After a lengthy battle, Godzilla kills Megaguirus by crushing her stinger and blasting her with atomic breath. The city endures another epic kaiju confrontation.

It is revealed that Godzilla was attracted to a secret plasma energy project housed at the Science Institute, violating the plasma ban. This reframes his motive from random destruction to energy-seeking behavior. The revelation prompts a reevaluation of energy policy and kaiju threats.

With the Dimension Tide off its intended course, Tsujimori pilots a ship toward Godzilla and fires just before reentry. Godzilla retaliates with his atomic breath and seems to vanish as the weapon consumes itself. A post-credits scene hints that Tokyo is struck by an earthquake and Godzilla is buried underground, leaving his fate uncertain.
