Godzilla vs. Biollante

In 1985, Godzilla attacks Tokyo and is subsequently imprisoned atop Mount Mihara. His cells are secretly shipped to the Saradia Institute of Technology and Science as part of a plan to use his biology to transform deserts into fertile land. The goal is to transform Saradia's deserts into fertile land and reduce the country's oil dependency.

The Saradia Institute receives Godzilla's cells and begins merging them with genetically modified plants. Dr. Genshiro Shiragami and his daughter Erika are recruited to help with the project, drawn by the desert-transforming goal. The team hopes the innovation will grant Saradia economic independence from oil.

A terrorist bombing devastates the institute's laboratory, ruining the cells and killing Erika. Shiragami survives, but the tragedy halts the project and stains the mission with personal loss. The incident marks a turning point for all involved.

Five years after the disaster, Shiragami returns to Japan and secretly fuses Erika's cells with a rose to preserve her soul. The hybrid plant later becomes Biollante, a central figure in the unfolding events.

Meanwhile, Kirishima and Lt. Gondo develop ANEB using Godzilla cells, hoping to weaponize them against a possible return. They attempt to recruit Shiragami to join, but he rebuffs their overtures.

An eruption from Mount Mihara damages Shiragami's roses, prompting him to join the JSDF effort. He secretly merges more Godzilla material with the rose, giving birth to Biollante, who escapes toward Lake Ashi.

Bio-Major and Saradian agents infiltrate Shiragami's lab to seize the cells, but Biollante intervenes, attacking them and escaping toward Lake Ashi.

The agents plant explosives around Mount Mihara to force handing over the cells. The detonations free Godzilla, who heads out to replenish his energy.

Godzilla travels to Lake Ashi and engages Biollante in a brutal battle, ultimately defeating the plant creature. Biollante calls out to Godzilla as the fight ends.

Psychic Miki Saegusa uses her powers to redirect Godzilla toward Osaka, prompting evacuation of the city and a pause in his pursuit of power plants.

A JSDF team led by Gondo fires ANEB-infused rockets at Godzilla in Osaka's central district, but Gondo is killed and Godzilla remains unharmed. Kirishima recovers the cells and returns them to the JSDF for further testing.

The JSDF erects microwave-emitting plates during an artificial thunderstorm near Wakasa Bay to heat Godzilla and trigger the ANEB. Biollante reappears, having evolved into a more powerful form.

Godzilla fires an atomic breath into Biollante's mouth, mortally wounding her. As ANEB takes hold, Biollante's spores rise into space, forming an image of Erika among the stars.

Shiragami is shot by SSS9, and Kirishima pursues as SSS9 is killed by a plate activated by Sho Kuroki. Godzilla reawakens and returns to the ocean.
