Flight of Black Angel

Eddie Gordon, a talented and aggressive pilot, graduates from the United States Air Force Academy. His flying skill marks him as exceptional, but his temperament worries instructors. Lieutenant Colonel Ryan tries to urge restraint, yet Eddie shows little interest in following orders.

Shortly after his birthday party at his Las Vegas home, Eddie begins his long-planned murder spree by killing his brother and both parents. The brutal family tragedy reveals the depth of his resolve and sets in motion a plan to weaponize a jet. His actions demonstrate his willingness to unleash violence against those around him.

Eddie confronts Captain Melissa Gaiter at the base and forces her to arm his IAI Kfir C1 with live ordnance, a radar-jamming pod, and a tactical nuclear weapon. Melissa refuses to cooperate further and is murdered. The act ensures Eddie's weapon is ready for action.

Colonel Bill Douglas learns of the Gordons' triple murder while a training exercise is underway. Eddie uses the chaos to shoot down fellow students and sabotage safety systems. Ryan tries to lure Eddie toward the base's SAMs, but Eddie destroys the SAMs, Ryan's plane, and the runway.

Eddie lands in Garrison, Utah, and hides his jet in a deserted barn. He is discovered by the Dwyer family and, seizing the moment, abducts them and takes their baby hostage.

While working on defeating the bomb's fail-safes, Eddie is exposed to lethal radiation and his health deteriorates rapidly. He presses on with the dangerous task, driven by his fixation and the hostage situation.

Valerie Dwyer uses a traveler's check to note their location, but the clerk fails to notice. Later at a drug store, a pharmacist spots Valerie's notes on the check, escalating the danger and drawing attention to the hostage situation.

Two police officers arrive to investigate the hostage situation. Eddie kills one officer, then opens fire on the second as Richard and Valerie attempt to flee with their baby. Richard dies and Valerie is seriously wounded before escaping toward help.

Valerie manages to crawl to the roadside with her baby and is picked up by a truck driver. The harrowing escape marks a turning point as authorities close in on Eddie.

Ryan cross-checks police leads and learns from Valerie that Eddie's target is Las Vegas. He urges Colonel Douglas to shift the base's focus toward Las Vegas to intercept the threat.

Ryan flies to Hill Air Force Base to take command of an F-16 and lead the mission against Eddie. An AWACS plane confirms Valerie's warning, strengthening the concentrated effort to stop Eddie.

Knowing Eddie cannot launch the bomb, but that his jet fuel could detonate it if fired upon, Ryan lures Eddie into a desert chase. He orders the other pilots to clear the area, then fires on Eddie, incinerating both pilots and 36 people on the ground.

Valerie, recovering in the hospital with her baby, watches sanitized TV news reporting that the pilots were on a training mission. The broadcast glosses over the true nature of the catastrophe and the tragedy that unfolded.
