In a remote Texas desert, Logan and Wyatt uncover a decades-old Jeep buried in the sand. They find a skeleton in the driver's seat, a toolbox with $800,000 in unused 10- and 20-dollar bills, and a hunting rifle with ammunition. The discovery hints at a long-ago bank heist and a dangerous past that might still be active.

Logan instantly envisions taking the money, while Wyatt hesitates, sensing trouble. After a tense talk, they decide to report the jeep’s license plate and ask their girlfriends to check the two phone numbers. Their choice marks a shift from greed toward cautious investigation.

They re-bury the jeep and bring two bills for analysis, learning they circulated directly from the Federal Reserve in Dallas and date to 1962-1963. Logan combs through town newspapers and finds no record of bank robberies in that window, and he pauses on the 22 November 1963 headlines about JFK's assassination. The clues hint at a larger conspiracy.

Federal agents led by the self-styled fixer Carson arrive to take over the operation and coordinate with the sheriff. Logan immediately distrusts Carson, who seems to know more about his Army past than anyone should. Carson’s arrival signals a betrayal of what Logan and Wyatt were trying to do.

During a drug bust, Carson deliberately blows Logan and Wyatt’s cover, nearly killing Wyatt. The move demonstrates Carson’s willingness to manipulate events to seize control and erase anyone who might expose the jeep’s secrets. The agents realize they are now pawns in a larger game.

A local prospector discovers the Jeep burial and summons Carson and Army forces to the area, causing a cordon around the desert site. Logan and Wyatt become entangled in a higher-stakes investigation that crosses government lines. The case grows increasingly perilous as the conspiracy tightens its grip.

The girlfriends reveal that the two phone numbers connect to Washington and an old Dallas police line, spreading information to Roget and Lambassino. The prospector's murdered body and the burned house push the investigation toward a wider, deadly conspiracy. They later find Roget and Lambassino's dead bodies at a deserted farm.

Carson and his team arrive at the scene, hinting at a cover-up that will silence the agents. Logan realizes the orders aim to eliminate anyone who knows about the jeep. Carson sends Logan to Soledad Mountain and Wyatt to a separate location; soon after, Wyatt is found stabbed to death with Logan's hunting knife.

Grieving and fueled by revenge, Logan tracks down the hidden money and rifle stash. He is shot in the shoulder by Carson’s men, but he uses the moment to flank and kill several attackers before mortally wounding Carson. The final confrontation leaves Carson dead and Logan wounded but alive.

Sheriff Wells confronts Logan and reveals the jeep and money were part of a government conspiracy to assassinate JFK, with Michael J. Curtis as the alleged killer. Wells admits complicity in the cover-up but implies there is a way for Logan to escape. He urges Logan to take the money and go to Mexico, while hinting at the ongoing danger.

Logan refuses Wells's offer, deciding to return to the station and report everything. Wells promises to cover for his escape and silently warns that Logan has little time before more danger closes in. He implies that justice may never fully come, but the truth must be pursued.

Logan eventually drives away toward the border, taking the jeep and money with him. He tells Wells to inform them he will return someday and Wells replies with a wry assurance that 'I'll tell them.' The landscape narrows to a solitary desert road and a decisive choice to confront the truth later.
