In 1966, Richard Montañez grows up in Southern California, surrounded by a hardworking family. His stern father instills values of perseverance while his supportive grandfather encourages his entrepreneurial spirit.

While in school, Richard discovers his knack for business by selling burritos to his classmates. This early foray into entrepreneurship showcases his ambition but also leads to trouble when he is arrested amidst skepticism surrounding his venture.

As Richard and Judy become involved in a life of crime, they turn to drugs for survival. This dangerous lifestyle begins to take a toll on their relationship and future.

The couple learns they are expecting their first child, which prompts a significant shift in their lives. They are compelled to seek a better path, leaving their previous lifestyle behind.

With the birth of their second child, Richard faces heightened financial struggles. To provide for his growing family, he reconnects with an old friend, Tony Romero, who helps him get a job at Frito-Lay.

Inspired by a video from Frito-Lay CEO Roger Enrico, Richard adopts a CEO mindset. He becomes determined to innovate and find solutions to revive the company’s fortunes.

After discovering his youngest son Steven’s love for the spicy elotes flavors, Richard is struck with an idea. He believes targeting the Latino market could potentially turn the company's fortunes around.

Richard faces initial resistance when he proposes his idea to Baker and others. His father Vacho also doubts his vision, but with Judy’s support, Richard remains committed to his plan.

In a bold move, Richard sneaks into the factory to secure Roger Enrico's phone number. This daring act exemplifies his determination and desire to push his concept forward.

Richard successfully gets a meeting with Enrico and presents his spicy Cheetos sample. After tasting it, Enrico is captivated and agrees to set up a production meeting for Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

Despite initial struggles with marketing the new flavor, Richard’s children inspire him to adopt a grassroots approach. Their innovative strategies lead to a surge in demand and recognition for Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
