The events take place in the late Pacific theater of World War II. Japanese soldiers retreat through jungle terrain while American airpower tightens the noose, driving a desperate struggle for scarce resources. Set in the jungle and coastal areas around Palompon in the Philippines during the final stages of World War II. The landscape alternates between dense jungle, open roads, makeshift medical tents, and fragile hospital wards.
