Matt Rossi and Nicky Parzeno manage Manhattan's top exotic dancers, booking acts into clubs across the borough. Rossi is emotionally scarred by memories of a ring-killed opponent from his boxing days, and his past relationship with Loretta has cooled. Loretta still cares for Matt but is now in a relationship with Leila.

One of their dancers, Honey, is beaten and mutilated by an unknown assailant, triggering fear among the troupe. Rossi and Parzeno immediately suspect rival promoter Lou Goldstein, though he denies involvement. Vice Detective Al Wheeler is assigned to the case, letting him view their occupation with condescension.
