Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

In 1927, the Magical Congress of the United States of America begins the transfer of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald to Europe for trial. During the process, Grindelwald manages to escape, setting in motion a series of events that will challenge the wizarding world.

A few months after Grindelwald's escape, Newt Scamander visits the Ministry of Magic in London to get his international travel ban lifted. He unexpectedly encounters Leta Lestrange, his brother's fiancée and former classmate, which complicates his feelings regarding the mission he is about to undertake.

The Ministry of Magic agrees to lift Newt's travel ban under the condition that he helps capture Credence Barebone, who is currently hiding in Paris. Reluctantly, Newt is faced with the task of working with the ruthless bounty hunter, Gunnar Grimmson, which he is hesitant to accept.

Albus Dumbledore reaches out to Newt, suspecting that Credence is actually Corvus Lestrange V, Leta's long-lost half-brother. Dumbledore's manipulation of Newt's past actions in New York leads to a complicated alliance as Newt contemplates the mission.

Newt's friends from America, Queenie Goldstein and Jacob Kowalski, visit him. With Jacob having regained his memories, they discuss Queenie's enchantment on Jacob and the ramifications of their relationship due to strict magical laws against inter-species marriage.

After Newt lifts the enchantment from Jacob, Queenie decides to seek out her sister, Tina, who is also in search of Credence in Paris. Newt and Jacob follow her to Paris using a magical mode of transportation, defying Newt's restrictions.

In Paris, Credence escapes from the Circus Arcanus, where he has been held captive. Alongside him is Nagini, a performer cursed to eventually turn into a snake, and they both seek to understand Credence's origins and find his birth mother.

Newt, Jacob, and Tina search for Irma Dugard, who facilitated Credence's adoption. However, their quest takes a tragic turn when Gunnar Grimmson, a follower of Grindelwald, kills Irma before she can reveal critical information about Credence’s past.

Yusuf Kama captures Newt and Jacob, revealing his aim to kill Credence due to a deep-seated family vendetta. He explains that he believes Credence is responsible for his mother's death, unaware of the depths of their intertwined fates.

Queenie finds herself manipulated by Grindelwald, who exploits her feelings for Jacob. His promise of freedom and manipulation of her desire to marry Jacob illustrate the dark art of persuasion that Grindelwald wields powerfully.

Newt and Tina manage to escape Yusuf and enter the French Ministry of Magic in hopes of finding incriminating records about Credence's identity. Their plans come to a head as they confront Leta and Theseus, who misunderstand their intent.

Intense confrontations occur within the Lestrange family tomb, where Yusuf reveals his motivations linked to a tragic family history. This moment lays bare the heavy cost of the family's past, which intertwines with Credence’s identity and fate.

A rally for Grindelwald’s followers culminates in chaos as Grindelwald incites his supporters to follow his vision for a world divided between magical and non-magical beings. Jacob witnesses the powerful allure of Grindelwald’s words amidst the confusion.

In a moment of bravery, Leta Lestrange sacrifices herself to ensure the escape of others from the chaos of Grindelwald's rally. Her actions underline the theme of loyalty and love in a time of great turmoil.

After fleeing, both Grindelwald and Credence come into contact at Nurmengard Castle. In a shocking turn, Grindelwald reveals to Credence that he may be Aurelius Dumbledore, adding another layer of complexity and mystery to his identity.
