After witnessing Eris commit murder at Penn Station, The Eye chooses to pursue her rather than arrest her because he becomes convinced she is a tormented soul who needs saving. His hallucinations of his estranged daughter fuel this obsession, causing him to see Eris as someone he can protect and redeem. Rather than completing his actual mission, he becomes entangled in a personal quest to save her from herself, despite knowing she is dangerous.
