Maya Amala Akkineni is a troublemaker in her college and hostel, known for pulling pranks and stirring up mischief with her circle. One day, she and her friends tease Dr. Srinivas Suresh Gopi by faking illness, consulting him, and then proposing in a provocative turn. Dr. Srinivas meets her bold move with a cutting rebuke, accusing Maya of being adopted and unaware of her own roots, and asserting that she doesn’t deserve to stand before him or his mother. The sting of that insult drives Maya to confront the guardian she calls her uncle, and overwhelmed by the blow, she attempts suicide. Her friends rush her to a hospital, where Dr. Srinivas offers timely care and she slowly returns to her normal self.
After a sequence of incidents, Srinivas finally confesses his feelings for Maya, but she answers that she will only consider his proposal after finding her birth parents. Her search leads to a revelatory truth: her father adopted her when she was a baby, and her biological mother is Vasundhara Devi, a famed singer. Maya throws herself into the quest to meet her mother, and the emotional journey reshapes their relationship. Vasundhara Devi Srividya initially resists, but gradually accepts Maya while choosing not to reveal who Maya’s father is. Maya accepts the limitation and treasures the days she spends with her mother, forging a bond that grows stronger with time.
When Vasundhara decides to publicly acknowledge Maya as her daughter and to marry Maya off to Srinivas, Maya leaves for her hostel, promising to bring Srinivas the next day. Yet tragedy soon strikes: Vasundhara is murdered by people working for her own wealth, and Maya and Srinivas reach the scene to find her in a precarious state. Srinivas attempts to move her to a hospital, but the conspirators block the effort, and the police tell Maya they cannot fully trust her.
Desperation drives Maya to seek help from a friend’s family. Vinod Shankar M. G. Soman, the friend’s father, agrees to assist and makes a call to Vasundhara, only to learn it is too late. They return to Maya’s home, where Maya ascends to confront the culprits; in a tense confrontation she accidentally shoots one attacker and then eliminates the rest who killed her mother, publicly owning her actions. A startling moment comes when a friend reveals that Vinod is Maya’s father too, making them half-siblings. Vinod accepts this revelation and embraces Maya, who tells him she never meant to disturb him, even though she had promised to her mother. Srinivas arrives; a devastated Maya asks if he will still accept her now, and his loving embrace answers her with quiet certainty. The couple moves forward as Maya is sent to jail, and their decision to marry while she serves her sentence underscores a resilient, if unconventional, vow to be together against the odds.
