Chandni, Isha Koppikar, grows up in a middle-class family in Bhopal, while Prem, Sonu Sood, is an unconventional ghazal singer from an upper-middle-class background. The two meet while practicing for a ghazal competition, and what begins as a shared passion soon blooms into love. Their families eventually meet, and there is a warm, hopeful sense that the two will join their lives together through marriage.

On the day of their engagement, tragedy strikes when Chandni’s father passes away, leaving her younger siblings suddenly dependent on her care. This shock forces Chandni to reassess her plans and the responsibilities that accompany love. At first, she contemplates leaving the children in the hands of her paternal uncle, but she soon discovers that the uncle and aunt care only about the house and not about her siblings’ well-being. Shrivastava, Vishal Malhotra, and Natasha will help shoulder the responsibilities of the ancestral house, Chandni and Prem decide to take the final step toward marriage themselves. Chandni faces fresh pressures when Natasha, the brother’s wife, refuses to conform to traditional expectations, demanding a more independent life that threatens to pull the family apart. Chandni, who has already arranged for her brother and his wife to start a new life abroad, cannot abandon her sister.
