Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn

In the afterlife, a teenage oni operating a cleansing machine is distracted by his Walkman, causing the machine to explode. Freed evil spirit essence engulfs him and he transforms into Janemba, a massive childlike demon with reality-warping powers. His emergence triggers the resurrection of the deceased, throwing the afterlife into turmoil.

The Grand Kai sends Goku and Pikkon to investigate the disturbance in the afterlife. They arrive at the check-in station, which is sealed within a crystal barrier immune to energy attacks. The mission: uncover Janemba's interference and restore order.

Inside the station, King Yemma informs them that Janemba is the source of the problem and refuses to drop the barrier. He directs them to confront the demon to free the souls stuck behind the seal. The barrier's power makes direct assault useless, forcing a different plan.

Goku digs Janemba into a trap, luring him toward Hell where the underworld's limits apply. Meanwhile, Pikkon keeps working to free Yemma from the crystal, inching toward the release of the trapped official. The plan is to weaken Janemba's grip by freeing Yemma first.

Back on Earth, Frieza leads a wave of zombies, soldiers, and past villains that overwhelm a city. Gohan and Videl step in to defend civilians, and Gohan ultimately defeats Frieza, sending the invaders into retreat. The crisis demonstrates the wider threat Janemba's barrier has caused across both realms.

Gohan, Videl, Goten, and Trunks collect the Dragon Balls and summon Shenron hoping to reseal the barrier. Shenron explains that only King Yemma can restore the afterlife's boundaries, so a direct fix by Shenron is impossible. The effort underscores the severity of Janemba's control over life and death.

In the underworld, Janemba uses his bizarre powers to overwhelm Goku. Goku powers up to Super Saiyan 3, shaking the Other World as Janemba responds with a far ruder form: Super Janemba, a smaller but more deadly demon. The clash signals the true scale of the threat.

Vegeta regains his physical body and arrives to assist Goku in Hell. The two Saiyans struggle to gain the upper hand against Super Janemba, temporarily unable to overcome the opponent. The situation compels them to reconsider unconventional tactics.

Seeing the stalemate, Goku suggests the Fusion Dance to combine their powers. Vegeta disagreeably refuses to fuse, clinging to his pride and independence. The moment delays their counterattack and heightens the risk posed by Super Janemba.

Pikkon refuses to give up and tries to free Yemma from the crystal, insulting the barrier. His outburst causes the crystalline substance to crack slightly, signaling a potential weakness. Yet the crack is not enough to release Yemma on its own.

After pressure and persuasion, Vegeta agrees to fuse with Goku. However, he fails to extend his forefinger when required and the fusion produces the weak, obese form Veku. The misstep gives Janemba a brutal edge and undermines the plan.

Super Janemba unleashes a brutal assault on Veku, breaking him easily and forcing the fusion to wear off. Goku and Vegeta escape but regroup as Pikkon arrives to stall the demon. With renewed resolve, they press a second fusion attempt, this time succeeding in forming Super Gogeta.

Super Gogeta lands a decisive assault, overwhelming Janemba and causing him to revert to his oni form. Janemba flees the scene, and the immediate threat to the living and dead is lifted as reality stabilizes. The fusion demonstrates the power the two Saiyans can unleash together.

With Janemba defeated, the barrier collapses and the deceased begin returning to the afterlife. Vegeta reverts to a spirit form and quietly disappears, leaving his friends behind. The balance between realms is restored, and peace begins to return to both worlds.

Back on Earth, Gohan, Videl, Goten, and Trunks head home as life resumes. In a post-credits scene, Shenron remains summoned, awaiting another wish. The film closes with a hint of future adventures and the fragile peace between living and dead.
