He goes to work in Saudi Arabia, promises to keep in touch and sends money that clears the family’s debts. When he stops contacting them, Meera learns he was thrown from a tenth‑floor balcony. Her fortunes reverse; jewelry is taken, she is forced to wear dark clothes and pray only at a temple.
