Dolan’s Cadillac

Elizabeth, during a desert horseback ride, stumbles onto a human trafficking deal and witnesses Jimmy Dolan's men executing two coyotes and an illegal immigrant. She narrowly escapes as Dolan's thugs fire at her. The encounter leaves the threat of violence hanging over the couple, especially when a phone is dropped and later identified.

Moments after the desert incident, a corpse with its lips sewn shut is left in Elizabeth's home as a message to remain silent. The macabre warning hints at Dolan's broader criminal operation. The Robinsons realize they are being targeted.

The couple goes to the authorities and is admitted into the Witness Protection Program. They are assigned new identities and relocated to a secure location. An official briefing marks the start of their precarious new life.

Elizabeth awakens in their temporary shelter needing to vomit, which she interprets as a sign of pregnancy. Excited, she rushes out to buy pregnancy tests while Tom follows. The moment hints at a fragile hope despite their peril.

Elizabeth attempts to start their car to go buy the tests, but the vehicle explodes, killing her in front of Tom. Tom is left stunned and horrified by the sudden loss. The death shatters the fragile hope they had begun to feel about the pregnancy.

Devastated by Elizabeth's death, Tom sinks into alcohol and grief. He resolves to take revenge on Dolan and begins plotting against him. He purchases a formidable handgun to level the odds in the confrontation to come.

Tom starts tailing Dolan around town, following him closely as he steels himself for revenge. He purchases a Smith & Wesson Model 500, a heavy revolver ideal for a final confrontation. His fixation on Dolan intensifies despite the danger.

A rival Dolan associate conducts a drive-by shooting, but Dolan's Cadillac proves bulletproof, foiling the attempt. The incident demonstrates Dolan's protection and the threat Tom faces. Tom's plan to confront Dolan remains intact but thwarted for the moment.

Tom and Dolan eventually confront one another at a rest stop in the Nevada desert. Dolan beats Tom but allows him to live, convinced that killing him would be a greater waste of pain. The encounter deepens the personal vendetta between them.

Tom secures a job with a construction crew rebuilding roads along Dolan's frequent routes. He uses the access to construct a trap in the road, a hole large enough to swallow a car but not large enough for the occupants to escape.

As Dolan's car drives into the trap, it falls into the deep hole. Delta is killed, and Chief is badly injured, with Dolan shooting him out of anger as he writhes in agony. The plan works, but at a brutal cost.

Dolan realizes the motorist is Robinson and begs for release, unable to escape. Robinson taunts him with the prospect of a fate worse than death, then continues to fill the hole with dirt and debris. The tension peaks as the trap closes around Dolan.

An official from Witness Protection informs Robinson that Dolan had been on his way to a major child trafficking transaction, a crime that would seal his conviction. Robinson remains unmoved by the revelation and focuses on sealing Dolan's fate. The official urges action, but the trap is already nearly complete.

The official calls again, saying they have enough for a conviction. Robinson drops the phone and laughs maniacally as the culmination of his vigilante justice settles around him. The Cadillac remains buried, and the danger Dolan represented is finally contained.
