What Happens in Dog Days: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Dog Days (2024) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Min-sang, Yoo Hai-jin, is a single man with a clean-cut demeanor whose days are haunted by a daily headache caused by Jin-yeong, a tenant veterinarian who has turned the building he bought with all his savings into a wasteland. After another clash with Jin-yeong at the animal hospital, he meets Min-seo, an elderly woman with a quirky personality who is in fact a world-renowned architect. Desperate for Min-seo's help on an ongoing resort project, Min-sang hatches a plan to reach her by targeting Jin-yeong and her dog, Chajang-nim. Min-seo, who suffers from angina, suddenly collapses on the street. The delivery driver Jin-woo, Tang Joon-sang, finds her and saves her, but in the process, Min-seo loses her dog Wanda. Min-seo sets out to find Wanda with Jin-woo.

Wanda is discovered by Ji-yu, Yoon Chae-na, the adopted daughter of neighbors Seon-yong and Jeong-ah. Seon-yong, Chung Sung-hwa, is a composer, and Jeong-ah, Yunjin Kim, stands by him as his neighbor. Band leader Hyeon, Lee Hyun-woo, Seon-yong's junior, is taking care of his girlfriend's dog Sting while she is away, and is shocked by the appearance of his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend Daniel, Daniel Henney, who claims to be Sting's father. The delightful, interconnected stories of these people unfold into a warm, humorous tale born from a shared, special friendship.

Q1

Why does Min-sang try to use Jin-yeong and her dog to get close to Min-seo?

Min-sang discovers that Min-seo is a world-renowned architect whose help he desperately needs for an ongoing resort project. Since Min-seo suffers from angina and cares deeply for her dog Wanda, Min-sang calculates that getting close to Jin-yeong and her dog Chajang-nim might give him an opening to connect with Min-seo and secure her partnership for his project.

Foreshadowing: Earlier scenes show Min-sang's frustration with Jin-yeong, making his sudden interest in her dog seem suspiciously motivated.
