Dirty Dancing

Baby Houseman arrives with her family at the upscale Catskills resort Kellerman's and quickly notices the social divide between the guests and staff. She becomes curious about the resort's secret life and the dancers who perform there.

Max enlists the Ivy League waiters to pursue the guests' daughters, regardless of attractiveness, while openly belittling the working-class staff. His cynical scheme frames much of the summer's social conflict.

Baby is drawn to Johnny Castle after his cousin Billy introduces them at a secret staff 'dirty dancing' party. They share a private moment on the dance floor, sparking a chemistry Baby hadn't anticipated.

Baby learns Penny is pregnant by Robbie, a waiter who has his eye on Lisa. The revelation adds a tangled web of relationships and threatens Penny and Johnny's chances that season.

To help Penny, Baby borrows money from her father without explanation. Penny initially declines, but Baby offers to stand in for her so the performance can go on and the season won't be ruined.

Baby and Johnny begin formal dance rehearsals, and their mutual attraction deepens. They push through difficult lessons, and their performance eventually comes together despite earlier missteps.

Penny is badly injured during the abortion attempt, prompting Baby to ask Dr. Houseman for help stabilizing her. The crisis strains Penny's friendships and heightens Baby's sense of responsibility and guilt.

Baby sneaks to apologize to Johnny, asserting his worth beyond their class differences. Johnny accepts her apology and they decide to continue their romance in secret.

Vivian tries to ruin Johnny by insinuating he stole her husband's wallet after spotting Baby leaving his cabin. Baby defends him with an alibi, but the real thieves, Sydney and Sylvia Schumacher, are eventually caught, leaving Johnny's future uncertain.

Max is ready to fire Johnny because of his relationship with Baby, and Dr. Houseman confronts Baby about deception and class prejudice. Johnny's livelihood hangs in the balance as tensions rise.

During preparations for the end-of-season talent show, Robbie reveals Penny's pregnancy and then insults Baby. Dr. Houseman angrily retrieves the recommendation letter Robbie had earned for medical school.

Johnny interrupts the finale by pulling Baby onto the stage, proclaiming she has made him a better person. They perform their practiced lift as the staff and guests join in, and Dr. Houseman admits he was wrong about Johnny, ending with a triumphant dance to the audience's applause.
