Devil Returns

A taxi driver, who is a wanted robber and serial rapist, abducts Mei-hsun and drives her to an abandoned building. He beats and sexually assaults her, leaving her for dead. Mei-hsun miraculously survives the brutal attack.

Mei-hsun identifies her attacker in a police lineup, confirming his guilt. The man is executed by firing squad, bringing his threat to an end. The event marks a decisive moment of justice in the case.

The rapist's death haunts Mei-hsun, who dreams of the moment of his execution as it happens. The vision unsettles her and deepens her nightmares. The dream offers no comfort or closure.

Mei-hsun learns she is pregnant with what she assumes is the rapist's child. The news unsettles her and fuels her fears about the baby's nature. Nightmares and visions begin to accompany this revelation.

Mei-hsun attempts to have the abortion in secret, but an invisible force attacks the doctor and nurse and flings the doctor out a window. The procedure cannot proceed as planned due to the supernatural interference.

Though others believe the baby is normal, the child torments Mei-hsun when no one else is around to witness it. The supernatural presence at work within the family dynamic becomes more evident.

A nanny arranges a temple exorcism in an attempt to cleanse the child of evil. During the ceremony the baby's head spins and objects break, but the ritual is deemed a success and the child appears to behave normally afterward.

Enraged by what has been done to his son, the rapist returns from beyond to seek revenge. He follows the nanny to her home and slams her head onto a door hook, killing her.

The nanny's young son asks Mei-hsun about his mother, prompting her to search. She discovers the nanny's hidden body, deepening the sense of danger surrounding her family.

The killer returns to Mei-hsun's life and murders a visiting female friend and her suitor. He impales the suitor and causes the woman to bleed before she suffocates and her head is crushed.

The killer attacks Mei-hsun, but her husband and a police officer arrive to help. They banish the undead man by drenching him in wine and shooting him several times.
