Detective Chinatown 1900

In 1900, Fei Yanggu, a Manchu official, receives orders from Empress Dowager Cixi to travel to San Francisco. Accompanied by two bodyguards, his mission is to capture the revolutionaries Sun Wen and Zheng Shiliang, setting off a series of events in the city.

Tragedy strikes as Alice, the daughter of U.S. Congressman Grant, is found disemboweled in Chinatown. At the same time, an elderly Native American man is also murdered, causing widespread panic and escalating tensions in the community.

Bai Zhenbang, the son of Bai Xuanling, becomes the primary suspect in the murders. As racial tensions rise, Congressman Grant, who harbors deep-seated prejudice against the Chinese, plans to push for stricter immigration laws.

In a desperate move to clear his son's name and protect the Chinese community from backlash, Bai Xuanling seeks the help of Qin Fu, a young reasoning master. Their partnership is crucial as they attempt to unravel the truth behind the murders.

Ah Gui, a Chinese-Native American hunter, arrives in San Francisco driven by the need to avenge his adoptive father's death. His path crosses with Qin Fu, and the two decide to collaborate in their respective quests for justice.

As the investigation unfolds, two more young women fall victim to disembowelment. The connection between these murders and the escalating tensions in the city complicates both Qin Fu and Ah Gui's efforts.

To prepare for their revolutionary activities, Zheng Shiliang and Bai Zhenbang steal firearms from an Irish gang. This daring act not only puts them at risk but also ignites further conflict with the Irish community in San Francisco.

Upon stealing the firearms, Zheng Shiliang and Bai Zhenbang decide to hide them at the Chinese Theater, where their friend Jin Lingfu performs. Their plan hits a snag when they inadvertently get caught in a mishap during a show.

Qin Fu meets with Bai Zhenbang, who reveals his plans to elope to Europe. Together, they attend Alice's autopsy, leading to new insights as they find wood fragments in her hair, suggesting a deeper connection to the suspect.

Qin Fu confronts Congressman Grant in hopes of obtaining more information about Alice's murder. However, his efforts are met with resistance and he gains no valuable leads, compelling him to further investigate on his own.

After being thrown out of Grant's house, Qin Fu and Ah Gui inspect the premises privately. They discover a banister that matches the wood they found in Alice's hair, indicating a possible connection to the congressman.

Fei Yanggu forms an alliance with local Americans in the hopes of gaining support for his mission. This alliance is tested during a bar brawl, highlighting the complex relationships between the Chinese community and other ethnic groups.
