Dead Man's Shoes

Richard returns to his hometown of Matlock, Derbyshire, after serving as a paratrooper in the British Army. This marks the beginning of a haunting journey for him and his brother Anthony, who faces severe mental challenges.

Accompanied by his younger brother Anthony, Richard finds refuge at an abandoned farm nearby. This setting becomes a pivotal location for the unfolding events as Richard seeks solace from his harrowing past and the trauma that haunts Anthony.

The narrative shifts through flashbacks that reveal the traumatic experiences Anthony endured at the hands of local drug dealers. These recollections enhance Richard's growing thirst for vengeance and highlight the brutal realities they faced.

In a tense encounter, Richard dons a mask and confronts Herbie, one of Anthony's abusers. Initially unrecognized, Herbie's unease grows as the masked figure's intentions become clearer.

Following the masked confrontation, Herbie and his associates gather at their flat to discuss the mysterious intruder. While indulging in drugs, they begin to speculate that Richard might be behind the threat, causing tension within the group.

After a mysterious military-gas-masked figure is spotted, the gang discovers that their hideout has been ransacked. Ominously, drugs have been stolen, and the words 'Cheyne Stoking' are spray-painted on the wall, hinting at deeper implications.

Sonny, the gang's leader, meets with his crew to discuss their predicament. The group's dynamics shift dramatically when they realize that Richard is indeed back in town, increasing the threat to their safety.

Richard boldly invites the gang to confront him at the farm, demonstrating his unwavering confidence. This act shocks the gang, igniting a mixture of fear and aggression as they prepare to retaliate.

That night, Richard stealthily infiltrates the gang's hideout. In an explosive scene, he murders one of the gang members with an ax and leaves the chilling message 'One Down' smeared in blood on the wall.

In a tragic turn of events, Sonny's plan to eliminate Richard backfires when he accidentally shoots Big Al, one of his own men. This blunder causes panic and confusion, fracturing the gang's morale.

The surviving gang members regroup at a petrol station to plot their next move. Tensions rise further when Tuff, consumed by fear, flees from the scene, leaving the remaining members vulnerable and uncertain.
