While stopping at a gas station run by Chopper, the group hears the local legend of Lockjaw. Oscar recounts Grimley Boutine and Caroline, their incestuous line, the albino alligator, and Grimley’s transformation into a half-man, half-alligator monster. The story sets a ominous tone for what lies ahead.

They reach Grimley’s house and decide to camp nearby for the night. The ominous forest surroundings and the legend loom as they settle in with drinks. The eerie setting foreshadows the danger to come.

On the riverbank, Grover is slaughtered by an unseen beast after ignoring warnings not to defy Grimley. The brutal event hints at the danger linked to Lockjaw and the cult. The group’s sense of safety begins to falter.

Randy leaves to fetch more beer, leaving the others to drink. Oscar secretly photographs Niles and Emily while they’re together, exposing the hidden affair. Karen and Oscar secretly share incestuous feelings, and Karen begins kissing him.

After Oscar climaxes, Karen walks off in frustration and Chopper approaches, knocks her unconscious, and takes her away. He serves as the cult’s enforcer, subservient to Lockjaw and ready to use Karen as a sacrifice.

Randy spots Lockjaw in the woods and runs off into the darkness. The encounter marks the last time the group sees him as fear and confusion spread among the survivors.

Randy and Niles eventually return toward Emily and Karen, only to encounter Lockjaw. They are later stopped by a shop worker on the highway; Niles kills the worker, but Lockjaw murders Randy.

Beth wakes in a tent moved into a dark cave and screams as Lockjaw feasts on a victim. The terrifying scene underscores the scale of the cult’s reach and the danger to all.

Karen is prepared as a sacrifice to draw Lockjaw out from the underground; her feet are cut off by her father to lure him away. Lockjaw seems to recognize Karen by the necklace Chopper placed on her—the same one that belonged to his sister.

Niles discovers Karen’s body and is confronted by a disillusioned Oscar, whom he quickly dispatches with Oscar’s machete. The violence intensifies the group’s unraveling and drives Niles toward Emily.

Niles sneaks into Lockjaw’s cave to save Emily, but they are captured by the cult and Lockjaw throws Niles into the river. Emily is dragged deeper toward her fate as the ritual nears.

Chopper informs Emily that Lockjaw has chosen her to become his next bride, setting the stage for a ceremonial impregnation. The cult gathers in preparation for the ritual.

Niles joins the ritual and fights Lockjaw, knocking him into a sinkhole. He unties Emily, but Lockjaw pulls her into the hole, and Niles follows to try to rescue her.

The next morning, Emily and Niles emerge from the sinkhole with Lockjaw’s jaw and drive off, having survived the ordeal and escaping the cult’s reach.

Sometime later, Chopper arrives at the refurbished Grimley cabin for a celebration. Beth is revealed to be alive, but she carries a mutated baby, hinting at a dark future for the survivors.
