Ferdinando Esposito and Amilcare pretend to have found an ancient coin in the Roman Forum, hoping to cash in on a gullible tourist. Their ruse succeeds when Mr. Locuzzo, an American charity chairman, is taken in by the trick. This early con sets the tone for a collision between two worlds in wartime Rome.
