Concorde Affair

L.P.A. Flight 820, a Concorde test flight, is sabotaged, forcing the plane to crash into the Caribbean waters off Martinique. The only survivor is Jean Beneyton, a French hostess on board. Two fishermen who rescue her are killed by a group of suited corporate agents who witnessed the crash.

American investigative reporter Moses Brody travels to Martinique after being tipped off about a major story. Upon arrival he discovers Nicole, his ex-wife who runs a local restaurant, has died of a heart attack, raising suspicions. The events set him on a path to uncover a larger conspiracy.

Brody is rescued from thugs by a local fisherman named George, who owns a fishing trawler. George reveals that Nicole knew about the crash and was killed for it, and the two decide to investigate together.

Shady businessman Milland and his partner Danker, with their associate Martinez, learn of the Concorde crash and hatch a plan to suppress any evidence. Their scheming indicates they are behind the subsequent cover-up.

Brody and George witness Jean Beneyton jump from the henchmen's boat and attempt to swim away, but she is recaptured. The moment underscores the danger surrounding the crash and the people trying to control the information.

They reach the submerged Concorde and, donning scuba gear, explore the wreck about 100 feet down. Brody enters the fuselage while George’s arm gets trapped in machinery, forcing Brody to amputate to free him. They also discover explosive charges planted on the aircraft to destroy evidence.

After surfacing, George is hit by a bullet from the pursuing henchmen. Brody dives back down with two divers to evade them, hides in an underwater cave, surfaces again, and airily disables a henchman and steals a speedboat to continue the pursuit.

Brody takes the issue to the United States Consul of Martinique to start an official investigation, but nothing is found and the search is called off. He mentions seeing Jean on a yacht, triggering political suspicions from the Consul who hints at a scandal involving a Congressman.

Milland and his men watch a video of the submerged Concorde’s explosion and discover that Jean is alive and being held for ransom. They also realize that another Concorde flight, Flight 128, is preparing to depart in Rio de Janeiro toward London.

That evening, Brody sneaks aboard the henchmen’s boat, overhears plans to kill Jean and to take down Flight 128, and rescues her. They escape to shore, where Jean, deeply shaken, struggles to recall details of the crash.

The next morning they hitch a ride on a banana truck to elude pursuit, but Milland’s henchmen catch up. They are blocked by a construction vehicle, thwarting the ambush and giving them a temporary reprieve.

On board Flight 128, a crew member sabotages an engine by introducing acid into the food, which melts in the oven and damages electrical lines. This causes loss of power as the plane descends and crews attempt to maintain control.

In Martinique, Brody helps Jean recount her story to the American Consul, but the henchmen crash the moment, triggering a chase that ends in a police shootout in which the henchmen are killed.

London Air Traffic Control regains contact as Flight 128 descends and the number one engine overheats. The crew fights to land the plane, and they manage a safe landing at about 9,000 feet, with London coordinating the arrival.

The next day Milland reaches out to Brody with a shady contract, while Jean plans to return to Paris. Brody hints at exposing the heads of major corporations in New York involved in aircraft sales, signaling the continuation of his investigation.
