Detective Mortimer Shade is killed in a freezer, but a Grail parasite takes over his body, reviving him and demanding blood. Partner John Dark accepts the change, and they become vigilantes, hunting criminals while Shade drains them with his claw. Dark fears Shade is losing humanity and becoming a monster, and works to stop him before danger spreads.
