A cruel opportunity arises when Lady Tremaine seizes the Fairy Godmother’s wand and travels back in time to the day the Grand Duke tries the glass slipper on Cinderella. With Cinderella locked away in her room, Tremaine enlarges the slipper to fit Anastasia’s foot, and the Grand Duke concludes that Anastasia is the one he has been seeking to wed. The night’s ruse seems complete until Cinderella escapes her confinement, and Tremaine shatters her remaining glass slipper, erasing Cinderella’s one tangible proof of dancing with the Prince.
