Chevalier

The Doctor, Yorgos, Josef, Dimitris, Yannis and Christos are on a luxury yacht in the Aegean Sea, enjoying a fishing trip. They are tightly connected: the Doctor mentors Christos, Christos is the former boyfriend of his daughter Anna; Yannis is the Doctor's son-in-law; Dimitris is Yannis' brother; and Josef and Yorgos are close business partners and friends of the Doctor. The setting establishes a fragile camaraderie under the sunlit surface.

On the final night, they play a game where one person thinks of someone on board and others ask metaphorical questions to identify them. Tension rises when Yorgos guesses Josef resembles a pineapple, which offends Josef. Josef then correctly identifies the pineapple as the cabin boy, highlighting competitive pride and prickly banter among the group.

Christos suggests Chevalier as an alternative game, a sequence of tasks to win a signet ring. Yorgos agrees to play only if the competition evaluates overall dominance and personality, not just tasks. The Doctor owns the sole Chevalier ring but refuses to lend it, so they resolve that a new ring will be purchased in Athens.

The men begin judging each other on everyday habits—how they sleep, what they wear, and how they drink their coffee. They also set up various competitions, including who can clean the fastest and who can skip stones best. The mood blends rivalry with uneasy humor as they prepare for the broader game.

The Doctor draws blood from each man as part of the scoring process, but Dimitris refuses to have his blood taken. His refusal immediately costs him points and strains his standing in the competition. The moment highlights personal boundaries clashing with group scrutiny.

During the series of examinations and revelations, Christos discovers he has high cholesterol. The health news adds another layer of insecurity to the already tense competition. It also exposes vulnerabilities behind the men’s outward bravado.

During dinner, Dimitris lip-synchs a performance of Lovin' You, injecting a moment of showmanship into the tense atmosphere. Wanting to spur excitement, Yannis lights sparklers and dances behind him on the dock, a display that the Doctor coldly rebukes as careless.

Enraged by the rebuke, Yannis lashes out at the Doctor, accusing him of disliking him because his daughter Anna is infertile. He then mocks Christos by insinuating Anna shared his sexual inadequacies, pushing the confrontation toward physical violence as they’re separated to prevent a worse clash.

Before the final competition, Yorgos reveals he has shared a moment with all the men and offers a blood pact. All refuse except Dimitris, who agrees to join by cutting his upper butt cheek and pressing his hand to Yorgos’s to seal their 'blood' bond. The variant of the ritual marks a defiant shift in group loyalties.

Back in the kitchen, the cook and his assistant play Chevalier against one another, with the assistant docking points from his employer because of balding. The scene adds a petty, humorous undercurrent to the intensity of the main competition. It shows how the game permeates even the crew dynamics.

Having completed the game, the men disembark from the boat and head to their cars to go home. Yorgos climbs onto his motorbike, the Chevalier ring gleaming on his hand, a final, unresolved emblem of the night’s trials. The ring hints at a continuing, unspoken competition beyond the voyage.
