Mohan is a young, jovial lawyer practicing under his father, Vishwanath Rao. At a friend’s wedding, he catches sight of Sheela and feels an instant attraction. The two begin to see each other more often, and a warm friendship soon blossoms into mutual affection. Meanwhile, Leela, Vishwanath Rao’s niece and a capable lawyer who also works under him, becomes entangled in the same circle. The families, along with Leela, start hoping for a union between Mohan and Leela, setting the stage for an arranged yet affectionate alliance.

But the path of love takes an abrupt turn when Sheela behaves strangely, tells Mohan to forget her, and ends the relationship. Before long, she marries a family friend, leaving Mohan despondent and physically unwell. Leela steps in to care for him during this low, and her selfless devotion rekindles his faith in life. Seeing her steadfast support, Mohan decides to marry Leela and does so, seeking happiness together.

Fate, however, throws another twist. A newspaper article reports on a woman who killed her own husband, and Mohan reads it with a keen, unsettled curiosity. He discovers that the woman is none other than Sheela, which pushes him to take up the case and defend her. He believes there are undisclosed truths behind the accusation and suspects Sheela could never be capable of such a crime. To unravel the mystery, Mohan delves deep with diligence and resolve.

With the support of Murthy, a friend, and his sister, Mohan uncovers a brutal truth: on the night of the incident, Sheela was raped by a friend of Mohan’s brother. This revelation explains why Sheela, feeling she had damaged her chastity, distanced herself from Mohan and eventually married the man who assaulted her. The plot thus shifts Mohan into a challenging conflict, as he must now confront the case against his own wife, Leela, while maintaining a commitment to truth and justice.

In the courtroom, both sides present their arguments with equal fervor. Leela discovers that Mohan happens to be Sheela’s former lover, which strains their bond, and she contemplates divorce. Vishwanath Rao intervenes, offering a candid explanation for why Mohan hid the full truth from Leela, and his words help her see the depth of Mohan’s love. As the truth comes into sharper focus, Leela seeks to understand the events of the night Sheela’s husband was killed from multiple perspectives.

With Ramu joining the effort, the legal team pieces together the remaining clues: a woman who had been cheated by Sheela’s husband is revealed to have killed him. The real killer is identified, and justice is served. Sheela is eventually freed from jail, her gratitude evident in her thanks to the couple who stood by her. In a touching closing gesture, Leela tells Sheela that she would name her future daughter Sheela, should such a child be born, sealing a reconciliation and a renewed sense of family and forgiveness.
