Thirteen-year-old Karan, Zain Khan, lives in a grim orphanage where life is harsh and the stern warden John Kakkar, Rajesh Khera, keeps a tight, unyielding rule over every boy. He clings to two big dreams: to have loving parents and to become a renowned cricketer. His inspiration is Kapil Dev, Kapil Dev, whose legendary feats light his imagination and push him to practice with stubborn devotion. One day, an old cricket bat turns up in the shed, and Karan becomes convinced it might be the bat Dev used to win the 1983 World Cup; he treats it as a magical talisman that could spark his future.

One day, a scout from the Indian cricket team spots Karan’s raw talent and is deeply impressed by his batting, while the team’s coach, Vijay Crishna, takes notice at a time when India’s cricket team has been navigating a rough patch. The coach’s recognition marks a turning point, offering Karan a path out of the orphanage’s shadows and into a wider world of high-stakes cricket.

Karan and Varun Roy, opening batsmen for the national team, take the field together with captain Rahul Bose.
