Catnapped!

Toriyasu, Hiroaki Hori and his little sister Meeko, Mikoi Sasaki, have been worried for a week since their pet dog Papadoll, Fumihiko Tachiki, vanished. Meeko swears it wasn’t a simple disappearance and hints at an alien abduction, a thought that gnaws at them as the days pass.

That night, three feline scientists—Henoji, Ichiro Nagai; Suttoboke, Sukekiyo Kameyama; and HoiHoi, Joji Yanami—suddenly appear and whisk Toriyasu and Meeko away to Banipal Witt, the magical cat world. The journey quickly broadens their world as the sun in Banipal Witt glows with an otherworldly light, and the landscape bursts with wonders they never imagined.

Upon arrival, the day’s enchantment has an abrupt twist: the magical sun turns Toriyasu and Meeko into kittens, small and curious but still determined. They soon meet Master Sandada, a powerful wizard who explains that Papadoll has been brought to Banipal Witt and transformed into a giant flying monster by the evil Princess Buburina, Noriko Hidaka, who plans to weaponize him. Buburina takes Meeko hostage, tightening the noose of danger around the two children. Sandada warns that only Toriyasu possesses the power to restore Papadoll before sunrise, or he and Meeko will share Papadoll’s fateful fate.

Buburina’s cruel scheme unfolds as she reveals plans to craft a giant mouse balloon to crush any resistance. She taunts Meeko, calling her a hostage who will be enslaved after sunrise, while Papadoll—still under Buburina’s control—looms as a terrifying weapon. The clock ticks loudly as Sandada and the rebels—led by Toriyasu and the three scientists—work to mount a risky night assault on the castle to free Papadoll and rescue Meeko.

Under the cover of darkness, Toriyasu, the scientists, and other rebels slip through the castle’s guards, but a rope mishap jolts Buburina awake and sets off alarms. The sudden breach forces a precarious regroup, yet hope remains as Suttoboke and Meeko push the mouse balloon into the sky, triggering a dramatic air battle. Toriyasu fights to reclaim Papadoll, while Buburina refuses to surrender him, nearly throwing Toriyasu to his death as Papadoll’s collar is torn in the struggle. In a moment of clarity, Papadoll remembers his bond with Toriyasu, and the pair rally to rescue Meeko and make a swift exit back to safety.

Dawn light washes over a world returning to normalcy, and Toriyasu and Meeko resume their ordinary life. Yet the lingering call of Banipal Witt is clear: when they head to school, the cats summon them away for urgent business, hinting at a possible sequel and the adventures to come.
