At the Yucca Mountain facility, orphaned teenage hacker Jesse is caught trying to steal dynamite. His uncle Joe, a worker on site, stops him. That night, unknown animals appear in the mess hall and slaughter everyone in sight except Jesse.

When communications cease, a civilian repair team is summoned to investigate the outage. Major Tom McQuade explains the site is a military-operated uranium mine and normally off-limits to civilians. The facility appears deserted, and the team prepares to search for the source of the silence.

The investigators split into two groups: three head to the control room to reboot the system, while the other three form a search party to scour the lower levels. They eventually locate Jesse, who is catatonic, and bring him back to the control room. The split creates mounting tension as the clock starts ticking.

The group confronts the truth: a biotech firm used fossilized DNA to recreate dinosaurs. Dozens of eggs were stored on site, and the dinosaurs later hatched and killed facility workers. Government involvement and containment attempts are explained as the crisis deepens.

Monk and McQuade blow themselves up to kill the remaining Velociraptors. Jesse and Reed push onward toward the surface, but a Tyrannosaurus rex bursts onto the scene. Jesse uses a telescopic handler to battle the beast and hurls it into an elevator shaft.

The rescue helicopter finally lifts off as Jesse detonates the remaining dynamite. The facility is destroyed, preventing a meltdown and ending the dinosaur threat. Jesse escapes with Reed and the remaining survivors, marking the end of the crisis.
