After a bank robbery, four criminals set their sights on reaching the quiet village of Santo Cristo in Acapulco, hoping to slip away with a stolen haul. The plot quickly spirals when they hijack a passenger plane as a storm forces the crew to push through the weather, and the pilot is forced to keep flying against the odds. The situation tightens as the copilot, Eddy Chamichian, struggles with one of the hijackers, and the plane’s instrument panel is damaged beyond repair. The crash that follows destroys the cockpit and leaves most of the passengers dead along with one hijacker, while a small group of survivors remains on board.

From the wreckage, the criminals extract what loot they can and corral the surviving passengers, ruthlessly discarding those who are too injured to be useful. The survivors are then conscripted to haul the heavy loot through the murky swamp toward the distant town where they intend to complete their escape. In the midst of their grim trek, a terrifying new threat emerges: a crocodile rises from the murky water and devours the pilot, a brutal reminder that the swamp is as deadly as the criminals’ plan. The group fires three shots at the predator, finally killing it, but the danger is far from over.

As they push deeper into the swamp, they find themselves hunted by the vengeful mother of the fallen crocodile, Flat Dog, a fearsome creature whose presence compounds the peril. The passengers cling to whatever hope remains as they try to survive this new predator, while Mia, [Heidi Lenhart], a stewardess, and Zach, [Chuck Walczak], the boyfriend of one of the survivors, seek a way out. A bartender’s bar becomes a strange crossroads as Zach enlists the help of a hired tracker to locate the crashed plane and guide them to safety. The tension escalates when Max, the ruthless leader among the criminals, forces the tracker to abandon Mia and Zach at a critical moment.

In a turn of decisive violence, the tracker’s ally is revealed to be none other than Roland, a determined pursuer played by [Martin Kove], who seizes Max’s gun and shoots him dead. As Roland attempts a perilous retreat, Flat Dog proves to be a powerful, inescapable force, grabbing Roland’s chopper and forcing him to sacrifice himself in a dramatic explosion. The grim math of survival tightens around Mia and Zach, who manage to outlast the carnage and finally defeat Flat Dog by using the gasoline from a life boat and a lighter to ignite a fatal blaze, ensuring the predator’s demise.

The film closes on a note that mingles relief with ambiguity. Mia and Zach are shown relaxing at a resort, swimming under the sun, only for a sudden, chilling return of Flat Dog to appear in the water. Mia wakes with Zach by her side, realizing it was all just a dream. Yet the swamps outside linger in the frame, and a loud roar fades into the distance as the camera slowly pulls back. If Flat Dog survived, or if another crocodile lurks in the murky depths, the danger of the swamp remains a haunting memory that won’t easily fade.
