In the town near Tiptree's facility, residents begin suffering from a mysterious illness with flu-like symptoms. Doctors scramble to diagnose the cause as cases rise and fear spreads. The illness coincides with the appearance of the reptilian hatchling and the escalating danger.

Watchman Doc Smith guards excavation equipment at the nearby quarry and reports a trespasser, Ann Thrush. A group of environmentalists begins a protest by handcuffing themselves to the machinery. The growing tensions set the stage for violent confrontations.

The virus impregnates women with dinosaur embryos, with the aim of exterminating the human race and letting dinosaurs repopulate the Earth.

News of the town's devastation reaches Eunice sponsors, triggering a government response. Officials place the community under quarantine and plan drastic measures, including lethal action against civilians to stop the spread. The crisis reveals competing agendas between corporate sponsors and state power.

Infected Tiptree births a dinosaur and succumbs to the illness, turning her own creation against her. The newborn dinosaur roams the facility as the crisis worsens. Her death marks the collapse of her grand design.

Doc and Thrush confront the threat at the quarry as the T. rex roams the area. Doc corners the creature, then injects Thrush with the serum to try to cure the illness. Government soldiers arrive, kill Doc, burn both bodies, and destroy the serum in the blaze, ending any chance of saving the town.
