On a distant world of rotting metal, steaming vents, and a sense of quiet danger, Captain EO and the ragtag crew of his battered spaceship embark on a mission to deliver a mysterious gift to a witch known as the Supreme Leader, a formidable ruler who calls this bleak landscape home. The crew is a curious mix: a small flying cat-like sidekick named Fuzzball, the double-headed navigator and pilot Geex (Idy and Ody), a robotic security officer Major Domo, a tiny robot, Minor Domo, and the clumsy elephant-like shipmate Hooter. Their arrival draws immediate trouble, and they are captured by the Supreme Leader’s henchmen, who condemn the crew to be turned into trash cans, while Captain EO faces 100 years of torture in her deepest dungeon.
Before any sentence is carried out, Captain EO looks at the Supreme Leader and sees the beauty hidden within her, insisting that he brings her the key to unlock it: his song, We Are Here to Change the World.
“We Are Here to Change the World”
Two of the crew’s robot members transform into musical instruments, and the team begins to play. In a comic misstep, Hooter trips over EO’s cape and breaks the instrument, halting the music and breaking the spell. The Supreme Leader orders her guards to seize Captain EO and his companions once more.
But the rhythm returns when Hooter manages to repair his instrument and blasts out a surge of music, giving EO the power to shake off the guards. He channels that energy to transform the dark, hulking guards into agile dancers who fall into step behind him for a jubilant sequence, kicking off a reprise of the song that soon fills the lair: We Are Here to Change the World. The Supreme Leader unleashes her own defense—two cybernetic Whip Warriors, each armed with a whip and a shield that can deflect EO’s power—forcing the crew to scatter.
Alone, Captain EO fights the odds as a closing gate traps him in a last stand. Fuzzball darts through the scene, retrieving his instrument and weaving between the metal frames to snap the whips together, sending the Whip Warriors off balance and giving EO a window to act. With the momentum now on their side, EO transforms the remaining henchmen—along with the Whip Warriors and the dancers—into more hopeful figures, turning battle into a dazzling, unified performance.
Captain EO then soars up to the Supreme Leader and, in a breathtaking reversal, transfigures her into a beautiful woman, reshapes her lair into a serene Greek temple, and transforms the barren world into a peaceful paradise. A joyous celebration erupts, set to another iconic moment of their mission, as the crew wheels through space and away from the planet, their mission accomplished and their spirits high: Another Part of Me.
