After facing rejection from his girlfriend, Peter Rooker (Marcus Thomas), a disheartened designer from Portland, Oregon, makes a bold decision to audition for a minor role in a local community theater’s rendition of Cyrano de Bergerac. Although Peter lacks any formal acting experience, the perceptive director, Edwina Walters (Clare Higgins), sees something special in him and casts him in the titular role of Cyrano.

As Peter delves into the vibrant world of theater, he quickly becomes embroiled in the colorful dynamics of his fellow cast members, including the charismatic yet unpredictable Michael Degan (John Corbett) and the stunning leading lady Grace Hargrove (Amy Smart), along with a quirky ensemble of actors. Throughout this journey, Peter learns that the traditional rules of life are often disregarded in theater, and he starts to believe that, ultimately, there is a part for everyone in this whimsical environment.

As the pressures of acting and his own insecurities mount, it becomes painfully evident that Peter may not be adequately prepared for the highly anticipated opening night. The arrival of an experienced but notoriously unpopular actor, Ken Zorbell (Sean Astin), to take over the role of Cyrano only deepens Peter’s frustration. Acknowledging the precarious nature of his position, Peter approaches Edwina, asking if he might step back from his role and settle for a minor background character.

However, as fate would have it, when opening night arrives and the lead actor fails to show, the director unexpectedly calls upon Peter to step into the role he has never rehearsed. Initially hesitant, he reconsiders, realizing that performing is his true passion. As the snow begins to fall, Peter takes to the stage at the Portland Community Theater, delivering a mesmerizing portrayal of Cyrano that captivates the audience and leaves a lasting impression on everyone present.
