In Seabrook, a town where werewolves, humans, and zombies live side by side, the senior year at Seabrook High marks a delicate balance between different species, dreams of college, and the everyday drama of friendship. Addison, eager for a future beyond high school, has earned a place at Mountain College, while Zed also pursues an athletic scholarship to the same campus, hoping to join Addison there. The night before a highly anticipated football game—one that could finally open college doors for a monster recruit—the town is rattled by a flashing UFO that lands with barely contained chaos. From the ship descend the alien leaders, A-Lan, A-Li, and A-Spen, who come seeking an interstellar map to Utopia, a home they believe lies inside Seabrook’s most precious thing. To mask their true mission, they claim they’ve entered the National Cheer Off, an event Addison herself once organized.
The arrival unsettles the town as the aliens move in and begin questioning the locals. They scan minds with their Luma Lenses, interrogating werewolves and simulating their fears. Among the town’s helpers, Eliza—who is interning at Z-Corp, the maker of the Z-bands—teams up with Zed to help him improve his grade and secure the scholarship that would cement his future. Yet the aliens’ clever manipulation pushes Zed to the edge: they outpace his athletic and academic records, threatening to undermine his chances just as the deadlines loom. In a bold move, Zed helps the aliens locate Seabrook’s moonstone, the very object they’re scanning for coordinates that could lead them to their destination. The moment of truth arrives when A-Spen meets Addison and reveals a surprising truth—A-Spen is in love with Zed.
distrust among the townsfolk grows. Willa, Wyatt, and Wynter are especially wary of the newcomers, convinced that the aliens intend to seize what’s theirs. The aliens push forward, preparing for practice sessions that threaten the town’s sense of safety. When a near capture occurs, the aliens hurry to their Mothership, while Zed uses his knowledge of Seabrook to assist them, and Addison is accidentally beamed aboard. The aliens reveal their larger purpose: to reveal the true reason for coming to Seabrook. Through careful examination of the scout’s logs, they learn that the scout is Angie, Addison’s maternal grandmother, a revelation that shakes the family’s sense of history and identity. (Bucky, Addison’s cousin, is noted as not being related to Angie.)
The tension rises as Zed faces a crucial interview for Mountain College. Addison’s sudden alien powers cause him to zombie out during the interview, prompting the interviewer, Ms. Crabtree, to leave abruptly. Addison also begins to question her own identity, asking her mother about her grandmother’s secrets. The aliens suspect that the Seabrook Cup—the trophy Angie crafted and now awarded to the Cheer Off winner, built with materials from their home world—might be the key map they seek. Addison soon realizes this too, and faces a choice: let the aliens win or seize the chance to uncover Utopia herself. The werewolves discover the aliens’ mission and alert Z-Patrol, while Zed, newly informed of his own college acceptance, learns of Z-Patrol’s orders and resolves to stop the aliens from competing.
In the end, the Seabrook Mighty Shrimp prevail at the Cheer Off, but the conflict erupts: the aliens’ plan is exposed, forcing Addison and Zed to escape before Addison’s true heritage is broadcast to the town. Addison’s revelation becomes a turning point, and Zed learns that the coordinates to Utopia lie within Addison’s DNA. The choice that follows is bittersweet: the aliens insist on taking Addison to their new home, but Zed cannot go with her—doing so would end his life in moments due to the stardust energy. He offers to join, yet the danger makes it impossible. Just as the ship’s power falters, the moonstone’s energy is redirected through the Z-Bands to recharge the craft, a risky act that Zed performs to save them both. He survives, but Addison and the ship vanish into hyperspace.
A few days later, the world shifts into a new normal. The graduation takes place in a world without Addison, and the group comes together to celebrate a future that now includes a surprising twist: the aliens have decoded Addison’s DNA and discovered the map’s coordinates. Addison realizes Angie’s vision—to allow her species to thrive on Earth—and the revelation that Earth may indeed be Utopia redefines the town’s destiny. When the aliens return to Seabrook, they are joined by a broader cast of monsters and creatures, from vampires to merfolk, as the community embraces a broader, more inclusive future.
In the credits, a new horizon glows as Bucky is shown boarding the Mothership, activating it for launch with the aim of spreading cheer to distant corners of the galaxy, signaling a transformative chapter for Seabrook and its unlikely alliance of friends and families.
