The next day, Chip endures his first prostate exam, performed by a quirky doctor. He strangely enjoys the examination and later wants his wife Anne to grab his backside during sex. The scene blends humor with Chip's escalating fixation on unconventional sexual experiences.

In the shower that evening, Chip inserts a bar of soap into his rectum, a revelation of his unusual pleasure preferences. He notes the heightened sense of relief and power it gives him. This marks a turning point in his sexual experimentation.

Chip confides to Russel about Anne's contempt and their unintended pregnancy, laying bare the strain of their marriage. Russel becomes emotionally invested but remains wary of Chip's unreliability.

Russel obsesses over his ex-wife, who has moved on and is pregnant with someone else. Chip's inconsistent availability worsens the sponsor-mentee dynamic and fuels Russel's frustration.

Back at the RTM office, the perseverance plaque goes missing just as a Bring-Your-Kids-to-Work Day is announced. Chip's son Marty and Jon's son Andrew disappear during the festivities, prompting an official investigation that drags Russel back into Chip's orbit.

Russel is assigned to the missing-child case and re-establishes contact with Chip. Chip provides evasive answers about Anne and their life together, deepening the mystery and testing their fraught relationship.

Anne invites Russel to dinner where she flatters Russel and belittles Chip. Russel retrieves the incriminating computer disc Chip failed to hide. In the ensuing chase, Chip ends up swallowing the disc as it slides into his rectum, complicating the pursuit. A separate plan to rescue Andrew spirals into tragedy when Andrew is fatally scalded by a potent stomach elixir.

During a high-profile awards ceremony, Chip is promoted and celebrated as a hero. Just before his speech, Russel triggers a flatulent explosion that splays Chip across the stage, while Russel is branded a dangerous criminal in hiding. Russel then hands the incriminating disc to Chief Lazzara, declaring the case closed, and Chip reunites with his son and accepts Anne's reluctant approval as Russel exits, his decade-long anguish resolved.
