Government agents pursue Fong Sai-yuk and his master across temple complexes, prisons, and underground catacombs. The period is marked by political repression and a ruthless effort to destroy Shaolin influence.

The Red Lotus Temple serves as the main prison and trap-choked fortress in which Shaolin dissidents are held. The surrounding Shaolin Monastery and its environs provide the backdrop for escape attempts, martial clashes, and tense catacomb sequences. The setting emphasizes a claustrophobic, fortress-like environment where rebellion and survival unfold.
