Boxing Helena

As Dr. Nick Cavanaugh (Julian Sands) moves into his late mother’s luxurious estate with his girlfriend Anne, he becomes increasingly fixated on Helena - a captivating yet contemptuous woman with whom he had a brief encounter. During a lavish housewarming celebration, the unexpected arrival of Helena surprises everyone, including Nick himself, but she quickly departs with one of Nick’s colleagues. This sudden turn of events compels Anne to leave Nick, forcing him to confront his unresolved feelings for Helena.

A few days later, Helena reappears to collect her forgotten address book and hesitantly agrees to visit Nick. However, their meeting takes a dark twist when Helena becomes the victim of a hit-and-run, leaving her with a severe leg injury. In an act of desperation, Nick decides to secretly care for Helena at his own home, resorting to extreme measures like amputation and manipulation to exert control over her circumstances.

While Nick holds her captive, Helena’s sharp wit remains unscathed as she mercilessly mocks his shortcomings and rebuffs his attempts at affection. Just when it seems that the dynamic between them has shifted, Helena’s boyfriend Ray makes an unexpected return, igniting a violent confrontation that shakes both of them to their cores. However, in a shocking revelation, it becomes apparent that the entire series of events, including Nick’s captivity and his gruesome actions toward Helena, were simply figments of his vivid imagination, conjured during a period of intense anxiety as he awaited her recovery from surgery at the hospital.

Ultimately, Nick had sought the appropriate medical care for Helena after her accident, providing a haunting yet fitting conclusion to this dark narrative.
