Shiori Ito's documentary revisits the assault, failed criminal process, public testimony, legal struggle, and institutional barriers first organized in her memoir, now using years of recordings, interviews, surveillance footage, and direct observation gathered during the case. The film extends beyond the 2017 book into her civil victory, subsequent consequences, and the process of making evidence visible, while omitting much of the memoir's explanatory legal and cultural detail. Because Ito authors both works about her own investigation but builds them from different materials and time spans, the documentary is a partial adaptation and continuation rather than a filmed reading of the book.
