This powerful biopic explores the complex life of WWI poet Siegfried Sassoon. A decorated war hero who became a vocal pacifist, Sassoon’s unflinching verse exposed the brutal realities of war. He sought solace and redemption through marriage and religious faith, while privately confronting his own struggles with his sexuality in a restrictive era. The film delves into the internal conflicts of a man wrestling with personal demons and societal pressures.
