Behind Enemy Lines

In December 1995, Lieutenant Chris Burnett and Lieutenant Jeremy Stackhouse are stationed on an aircraft carrier in the Adriatic Sea. They are part of a NATO peacekeeping mission amidst the turbulent backdrop of war-torn Bosnia.

Burnett and Stackhouse are assigned a reconnaissance mission over Bosnia. As they fly over a restricted demilitarized zone, they inadvertently discover signs of illicit activity and mass graves, prompting Burnett to push for a closer look.

After photographing the mass graves, the local Bosnian Serb Army, led by General Miroslav Lokar, identifies the aircraft. In a bid to protect their genocidal activities, Lokar orders the aircraft shot down, forcing Burnett and Stackhouse to eject.

Upon landing, Stackhouse is captured by a Serb patrol. In a chilling scene, he is interrogated and executed by Sasha, a ruthless tracker serving Lokar, while Burnett witnesses the horror from his hiding spot.

Desperate for help, Burnett contacts his commanding officer, Admiral Leslie Reigart. Despite the pressure from higher up and warnings about jeopardizing peace in the region, Reigart tries to coordinate Burnett's extraction.

Ignoring orders to retreat, Burnett begins his perilous escape, narrowly evading capture from Bazda’s Serb patrol. His journey leads him directly to the mass graves he previously photographed, where he seeks refuge.

Burnett then encounters a group of Muslim guerrillas who mistake him for a friend at first. However, the situation quickly escalates into a fierce battle, forcing Burnett to utilize his ingenuity to escape.

To evade his pursuers, Burnett disguises himself in the uniform of a deceased Serb soldier. This clever act leads to confusion among the Serb soldiers as they believe they have found Burnett.

As rumors of his death circulate, Burnett makes a bold move to prove he is alive by reactivating his ejection seat's rescue beacon. This risky attempt aims to grab the attention of rescuers back at his carrier.

Reigart prepares a task force to rescue Burnett, fully aware that his actions may cost him his command. Meanwhile, Lokar sends Bazda and Sasha to eliminate the threat posed by Burnett.

In a twist of fate, Bazda accidentally triggers a landmine during the hunt for Burnett, thus providing him a critical opportunity. Hearing the explosion, Burnett knows he can take advantage of the chaos.

The climax builds as Burnett faces Sasha in a fierce showdown. Utilizing his military training, Burnett manages to overcome Sasha, ultimately killing him with a flare in a pulse-pounding moment of survival.

Just as the smoke clears, American helicopters led by Reigart arrive for a massive rescue operation. The ensuing aerial assault targets the Serb forces, aiding Burnett's extraction from the hostile grounds.

Burnett recovers critical evidence of Lokar's atrocities and is ultimately rescued by the US Marine Corps. He returns to the aircraft carrier to a hero's welcome, marking his miraculous survival.

Following the exposure of Lokar's war crimes, he faces trial for his actions. Meanwhile, despite the turmoil, Burnett decides to recommit to his military service, reflecting on his journey and newfound resolve.
