Just six days before Dr. Casper's arrival, two genetically modified flying foxes escape from Dr. Alexander McCabe's laboratory. These engineered creatures initially targeted animals but soon began shifting their focus towards humans, posing a terrifying new threat.

The invasion causes rampant destruction, as people resort to firing weapons and cars crash amidst the chaos. Tragically, among the casualties is Dr. Tobe Hodge, further heightening the urgency of the situation for Sheila and her team.

Faced with overwhelming crisis, military forces arrive in Gallup to assist with the emergency response. They provide Sheila and her team with only 48 hours before resorting to drastic measures if their efforts do not yield results.

Sheila designates the local school as their operational headquarters, a strategic location that could offer some protection. The military promises to utilize advanced technology to locate the bats' roost with their Chromo-B340 satellite.

After much effort, Sheila and her team discover the nesting location of the bats. However, they face significant challenges in eradicating the creatures, as traditional bombing methods could complicate the situation due to the bats' large numbers.

To tackle the enormous bat population, Sheila proposes a unique solution: lowering temperatures in the cave to induce hibernation or freeze them. This innovative approach is crucial in order to minimize harm to humans and preserve the ecosystem.

Jimmy Sands coordinates the urgent delivery of NGIC Industrial Coolant for deployment once the bats' roost is confirmed. The team is hopeful that this plan will effectively handle the bat threat without resulting in unnecessary casualties.

In a shocking twist, the military decides to wire the mine with explosives overnight, undermining Sheila's plan. This reckless decision prompts the bats to fiercely protect their territory, leading to deadly confrontations with military personnel.

As dawn breaks, Sheila and Emmett suit up for action but learn that the coolant has failed to activate. With mere minutes left, they rush into the mine, determined to salvage their mission despite the looming threat of the explosive remains.

After navigating bat guano, Sheila and Emmett successfully activate the coolant but face a frantic escape as the bats chase them. Just as they break free from the mine, Jimmy detonates the explosives, preventing the bats from following them.

In a chilling moment as they drive away, a rogue bat emerges from the sand alongside the roadside. The scene concludes with a sickening crunch, highlighting the ongoing consequences of the biological disaster and the constant threat these engineered creatures pose.
