In a kingdom, a blonde princess named Anneliese and a brunette girl named Erika are born at the same time. Their futures could not be more different: Anneliese is destined for royal life, while Erika begins life as an indentured servant. The stage is set for a story of identity and destiny to unfold.

Queen Genevieve arranges Anneliese's betrothal to King Dominick to rescue the nearly bankrupt royal treasury. Anneliese, however, harbors feelings for her tutor Julian, complicating the match. Preminger's scheming begins in the shadows as he eyes the prize.

Erika escapes the dungeon by singing a lullaby that lulled the guard to sleep. King Dominick suspects Preminger's deceit and comes to aid Erika. The two begin to plot a rescue and reveal the true identities of the conspirators.

Anneliese and Julian discover that geodes filled with crystals can restore the kingdom's resources. The revelation strengthens their bond as they confess their love for each other. Meanwhile, Erika and Dominick grow closer in their coalition against Preminger.

Erika's dog Wolfie unearths a mine shaft, and the group escapes by flooding the room and riding a barrel to the surface. The team regroups as the kingdom's fate hangs in the balance.

At the Queen and Preminger's wedding, Anneliese arrives, proves her identity with her birthmark, and reveals Preminger's schemes. A chase ensues, and Preminger, Nick, and Nack are arrested. The kingdom learns the truth and begins to heal.

With the conspiracy uncovered, Anneliese marries Julian and Erika marries Dominick in a double wedding. The crystals restore prosperity, Madame Carp closes the dress shop, and Erika decides to pursue a life at home, traveling the world before returning to her homeland.
