What Happens at the End of Baramulla?

How Baramulla (2025) ends, what the final scene means, which earlier moments set it up and how to read the ending if the film leaves it open. The full ending explained, with every spoiler.

In the climax the house the Sayyeds occupy is finally revealed as a gateway for the vengeful spirits of the Saprus family—Kamalanand, Mansi, their daughter Eela and their dog Sheru—who were massacred during the 1990s riots. Those spirits have been tethered to the home and, through the strange white‑tulip blossoms that only children seem to notice, they snatch the kidnapped youngsters (Shoaib, Faisal, Noorie and Yassir) into an otherworldly limbo, keeping them in suspended animation.

When Juneid Shaikh’s gang storms the house, the Saprus ghosts awaken and violently turn the attackers against one another. Gulnaar, possessed by a Saprus presence, shoots the schoolteacher Zainab—who had been manipulating the children for her cult—and Ridwaan finally confronts Juneid, killing him as police reinforcements close in. With the murderous threat eliminated, the spirits release the children, who return to the living world.

The aftermath shows the police praising Ridwaan for solving an apparently impossible case. Gulnaar now assumes the caretaker’s role of feeding the lingering spirits, while Ayaan sketches a shadowy figure that hints at the lingering presence of the Saprus. The strained bond between Ridwaan and his daughter Noorie heals, their reconciliation spurred by the shared trauma.

In the film’s closing moments the Sayyeds load their belongings onto trucks and head toward Mumbai to meet Sharad, the surviving son of the Saprus. Ayaan hands Sharad a box of seashells collected by Eela, prompting an emotional reunion. The final image suggests a tentative coexistence between the living family and the restless spirits, underscoring the film’s message that history’s wounds must be acknowledged but not repaid with further violence.
