Bank Robber

Billy enters the bank dressed impeccably and carries a dozen red roses, declaring this will be his last heist to fund a tropical island getaway with Selina. He shoots out nearly all of the surveillance cameras, triggering alarms and a rapid police response. He escapes with the tellers' cash, leaving the vault untouched.

With trouble closing in, Billy hides out at the Heartbreak Hotel, hoping to ride out the manhunt. He dreams of slipping away to a life with Selina while authorities close in.

A televised news report reveals Billy's true identity as William James Elliot, aka Billy the Kid, causing everyone he knows to recognize him and expect a cut of his winnings. The fame makes it harder for him to stay hidden as he moves through crowds. The revelation sets off a chain of demands from friends and acquaintances.

Back at the bank, the police chief and bank manager exploit the heist as a cover to open the vault and distribute the money, while Billy had only targeted the tellers' cash. The plan exposes corruption and the bank's opportunistic response to the crime. The rest of the money remains outside his reach, escalating the chase.

Billy attempts to call Selina but quickly hangs up when agents monitor his phone line. The moment shows how close tracking and surveillance are narrowing his options.

As Billy dreams of a tropical paradise with Selina, he discovers Selina is having sex with his friend Chris. The betrayal shatters his fantasy and fuels his paranoia. The discovery complicates his already fragile emotional state.

Desperate for companionship, Billy contacts an escort service. Priscilla arrives and negotiates, first quoting a flat rate and then clarifying it's hourly, and she stays because he is a nice guy.

Two beat cops circulate in their squad car, speculating about Billy's background and sympathizing with his upbringing. They represent the quiet, human misgivings people feel about his crime and circumstances.

In a dream sequence, Billy visits Selina while a TV broadcast proclaims that another confession absolves him; he and Selina imagine buying a red Mustang and sailing away on their boat. The dream blurs fact and fantasy, foreshadowing his desire for escape.

Billy wakes to a knock on the door from a TV personality and crew who barge in to tell his story; his face is shown on screen, including a clip of Selina declaring love but urging him toward an ordinary life. The report concludes by insulting him.

Paranoia overtakes him as he alternates between reality and fantasy, building a model of the beach he imagines moving toward. Priscilla visits with dinner, they have sex, and Billy drifts into a dream sequence featuring a gay cop and Selina.

Billy leaves the motel and walks into the street where two beat cops shoot him and hand him over to Priscilla; she pays them and drives away with the wounded Billy.

Sometime later, Priscilla is seen on a beach with Billy, watching the sunset.
